Virginia "Ginger" Oswald

Virginia Helen “Ginger” Englehardt Oswald, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on August 3, 1931, in Denver, Colorado, Ginger was the youngest of four daughters—Jacqueline, Charlotte, and Nancy—born to Walter and Helen Englehardt. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John F. Oswald, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage, as well as by her daughters Leslie and Paula. Ginger was the proud mother of seven children: Judy (Tim) Block Carrabine, the late Leslie Akers, Bruce (Sonja) Oswald, Cath Oswald Wilson, the late Paula (Mike) Horn, Kurt Oswald, and Jon (Joan) Oswald. She was also a cherished Gram to thirteen and an adoring Gigi to fourteen. Her family was the joy of her life, and she took immense pride in watching each generation grow. She will be remembered for her sparkling blue eyes, sharp wit, and impeccable fashion sense. Always “dressed to the nines,” Ginger carried herself with grace and beauty wherever she went. She also had a lifelong love of music, and Tony Bennett’s timeless voice provided the soundtrack to many of her happiest moments. Her deep Catholic faith was the foundation of her strength and a source of remarkable resilience throughout life’s challenges. Ginger’s legacy lives on in the love she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the memories she created with her family and friends. And true to her impeccable fashion sense, she leaves behind closets full of designer clothes that will forever remind us of her timeless style. The family is deeply grateful to the staff and residents of The Forum at Knightsbridge, where she happily spent her final years. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 22, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home in Worthington, Ohio. A funeral Mass will follow on Thursday, October 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, with her dear friend Father Kavanaugh officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are preferred—a cause especially close to Ginger’s heart, as she once went door-to-door collecting on their behalf. And as Tony Bennett once sang, she truly left her heart with all of us.
