Samantha M. Ropchock

Samantha M. Ropchock (Curtis), 55, of Powell, Ohio, formerly of East Liverpool, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends at Ohio Health Hospice House (Kobacker House). Born July 13, 1970, in Akron, Ohio, Samantha was the beloved daughter of Susan Marcum. Her greatest pride and joy were her children, beloved son, John Ropchock, and daughter, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Ropchock, whom she loved beyond measure. Both of Powell, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 22 years, James (Jim) Ropchock, who passed away in June 2018. She shared a remarkable and enduring bond with her beloved husband, Jim, who’s love was the cornerstone of her life and who’s memory she carried with her every day after his passing. Though he preceded her in death, their story remained ever-present – a guiding light that continued to shape her days with strength and quiet comfort. Jim and Samantha are once again reunited. Samantha lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a genuine love for others. She devoted 25 years of her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse with OhioHealth. Most recently, she served in the Department of Maternal/Fetal Medicine at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where her kindness and expertise touched countless lives. She also greatly enjoyed her time working at Grant Medical Center and Dublin Methodist Hospital. Samantha earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Columbus State and, earlier in her career, spent a brief time as an EMT/Paramedic. Beyond her professional life, Samantha embraced the world with joy and enthusiasm. She treasured traveling, especially the many cherished family trips to Disney and Hawaii. Some of her favorite places included Italy, Paris, Alaska, and Costa Rica. Samantha also had a refined appreciation for life’s simple pleasures—she was a wine connoisseur who loved sharing a great glass of wine alongside a wonderful meal with those she loved. Samantha was cherished not only by her family, but by the many friendships she built throughout her life. She formed lasting bonds with her coworkers, sharing laughter, support, and countless memories over the years. Beyond her work, Samantha was equally loved in her neighborhood where she lived for over 20 years. It was there that Samantha found joy in simple moments, conversations on neighbors’ porches, shared celebrations, and the comfort of being surrounded by kind and caring neighbors. Her genuine spirit made her a friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her mother, Susan Marcum; her brother, Donny Curtis of East Liverpool, Ohio; her brother-in-law, Steve (Stephanie Munno) Ropchock of Howland, Ohio; her sisters-in-law, Patti Ropchock of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Laura (Ropchock) Bunker and her husband Brian of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; as well as four nieces, Jordan, Rilee, Lillie, and Amber, and four nephews, Ricky, Richey, Evan, and Chad. Also proceeding her in death was her sister, Julie Underwood (Weaver); and her brother, T.J. Weaver. Samantha will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the light she brought into every room. Her legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and patients will live on in all who knew her.
