Ruth Ward Quillin

Ruth Ward Quillin, age 103, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021 at Wesley Glen Assisted Living, just 29 days short of her 104th birthday. Retired from teaching at Wickliffe Elementary School in Upper Arlington. Preceded in death by husbands Ernest “Pete” Quillin and Howard Ward, son Homer Jeffrey Ward, son-in-law Mike Davis, and sister Helen Addicott. Survived by children Jennifer Davis and David Ward, granddaughters Rose (Dragan) Jordanov and Eve (Brandon) Lake, great-grandchildren Lena, Maksim and Eva Jordanov, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren Beth Sommers (Adam Patrick), Jenny (Tyler) Anderson and Liam, Craig (Jada) Sommers and Owen and Harrison, nephews Tom (Linda) Addicott, John (Margaret) Addicott, Paul (Kathy) Ward and niece Sue (Howard) McMeans, as well as many great-nephews and nieces. Graduate of Athens High School, Ohio 1935 and State Teachers College, Mayville, North Dakota 1939. Member of North Broadway Methodist Church. Formerly active with Second & Summit Senior Center, Gillie Center, Welsh Society of Central Ohio and Wesley Glen Resident Council. Ruth had a good long life, filled with the love of family, friends and all who knew her. She had a wonderful sense of humor, always ready for a good laugh or a silly antic. She loved to read and work the Sunday crossword. She also had a beautiful voice, singing in choirs and choruses, including the North Broadway choir, Gillie G-Clef chorus and Columbus Welsh Singing Society. She was an avid traveler, taking many interesting trips to such places as Australia and Iceland. And of course, she was a big Buckeye fan, for a while being the resident cheerleader at Wesley Glen. She was a shining light whom we will all miss. Family will receive friends at Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home, 515 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio on Thursday September 9, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Brief memorial service at 7:00 PM with Reverend Joel Baer officiating. Private inurnment at Mound Hill Cemetery in Gallipolis, Ohio.
