Ruric Chandler Wiggins. And the Lord was pleased to receive into heaven Ruric Chandler Wiggins on October 2, 2008. Ruric "Wig" was born on July 7, 1924, in Wheeling, W.VA, the son of Mae Thomas Wiggins and Ruric C. Wiggins, Sr. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wayne T. Wiggins. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Georgene; and devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Pattie (Bryan) Fike, Jenny (Barry) Irwin, Bonnie (Bruce) Edelen, Becky (Vint) Walters, Mindy (Greg) Allender; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew and Christopher Fike, Lauren (7) Hoerath, Ryan, Emily and Stephanie Edelen, Megan Walters, Nicole, Jacob and Olivia Allender; sisters, Janet (Ralph) Dawson and Marilyn Wiggins; brothers-in-law, Ace Capossela and Keith Shuster; sister-in-law, Sally (Pitt) Curtis; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friends, Betsy and Paul Shewmon, Kathy Shaffer, Joan and John Guyton, and Gloria and Tom Irwin. Wig grew up in Cleveland and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School. He entered the military service in 1943, flew 29 missions over Japan as a tail gunner in a B-29 bomber, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. After being discharged in 1945, he entered The Ohio State University. Wig worked for 10 years at Ohio Transmission and then founded Industrial Transmission & Bearing Co. He sold IT&B in 1970 and started Wiggins Material Handling Co., retiring in the early 1990's. The business was purchased by Barry Irwin and continues to date. Wig was a member of University Lodge #631 F&AM, and a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus, and also a member of the VFW Post #2398, Worthington, Ohio. Special thanks for tender care to Dr. Conaway, Dr. Reddy, Homereach Hospice and his nurse, Kelly. Visitation will take place Friday, October 10, 2008 from 4-7 p.m. at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085, (614)885-4006. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church.
