Paul Jonathan Braun

Paul Jonathan Braun, 56, of Dublin passed away March 29, 2024, in his home surrounded by family. He was born November 11, 1967, in Omaha, Nebraska. He is proceeded in death by his grandparents Gilbert Braun, Theresa Braun, and Lyndell Smith. He is survived by his parents Kenneth Braun (Joan) and Marcia Smith (Braun); brother Joel Braun (Jamie Black); wife Lisa Braun; children Madison Braun (Lexi Treeger) and Andrew Braun; mother-in-law Barbara Kelly; father-in-law Michael Kelly (Colleen Dougal); sisters-in-law Sheila Davis and Marla Rian (Travis); nieces Michelle Davis, Christina Davis (Colin Kobes), and Riley Braun (Owen Zeiter). Paul grew up in Medina, Ohio where he was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He was involved with the Boy Scouts where he enjoyed earning badges and going camping with his troop. Paul attended Medina High School where he played trombone in the marching band, concert band, and pit orchestra. He met his high school sweetheart, Lisa Kelly, in 1984. They started dating shortly after and were married in October 1992. Paul graduated from THE Ohio State University where he studied chemical engineering. He achieved the status of Professional Engineer in 1994. He worked for several years out in the field before moving to his career at the Ohio EPA. Paul was a lifelong Cleveland Sports fan and Ohio State Sports fan! He never missed watching an OSU football game. Recently, he developed a love of women’s basketball and enjoyed being a season ticket holder at Ohio State. Paul became a dad in 1996 with the birth of his daughter, Madison, and again in 2000 when his son Andrew was born. He was a loving and devoting father. He was always there to lend a helping hand with all the activities. He attended every sporting event and band competition. Paul was the favorite band dad. He led the pit crew, chaperoned band camp, and volunteered at competitions. Please consider making a donation to the Dublin Music Boosters in Paul’s honor. Paul loved to tell stories. He always wanted to tell people about things he had done, seen, and read about. He was very knowledgeable about so many different topics. He was most interested in historic airplanes and trains. He knew so many facts and loved to tell anyone who would listen. Paul also loved to tell jokes. He was always trying to come up with new jokes. His jokes made his family and friends groan and laugh out loud. He had his favorites that he would tell repeatedly. Paul was the go – to trivia master and all-around general keeper of knowledge. Paul was a loving and caring man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His memory will live on in all who knew him. Even in his final days at the hospital, he continually asked all the medical professionals who came to see him... “Hi! How are you?”. His family is eternally grateful for the loving and attentive care of the nurses of Dublin Methodist Hospital and Ohio Health Hospice. Paul’s battle with cancer was much shorter than everyone had hoped. After spending some time in the hospital, he was able to return home for his final days. His family is forever grateful that he was able to pass peacefully in his home. Visitation and funeral service will be held at RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, OH 43065. Visitation will be on Tuesday April 2 from 1-3pm and 5-8pm, and Wednesday April 3 from 10-11am. Funeral service will be Wednesday April 3 at 11am.
