Patricia McFarlane

Patricia Anne McFarlane, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Columbus, Ohio, on Good Friday, April 18, 2025. Her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, James McFarlane, followed her in death just two days later, a final testament to their enduring bond. Born in Cherokee, Oklahoma, Patricia was raised in Chickasha and later in Joliet, Illinois, where she attended high school. She returned to Oklahoma for college, earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma, where she met James—her partner in life and love. Their marriage was a true partnership, grounded in mutual respect, deep affection, and a shared spirit of adventure. Together, Patricia and James built a rich and meaningful life in Denver, Colorado; Middletown, Connecticut; Friendswood and The Woodlands, Texas; before retiring to Norman, Oklahoma, to be close to their beloved OU. In retirement, they traveled extensively, embracing the beauty and wonder of the world together. Patricia was a devoted and loving mother—kind, patient, supportive, and always present. Her children, Glen McFarlane of Connecticut and Ann-Michel Kissler of Ohio, were her greatest pride and joy. She nurtured them with grace, humor, and steadfast encouragement. A lifelong learner, Patricia earned a master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. She shared her love of language and ideas with homeschool students in Houston and with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her home was filled with books, lively conversation, and laughter. She made friends easily, with her warmth, generosity, and sharp wit. Patricia is survived by her children, Glen and Ann-Michel; her brother, Franklin Treseder; and a circle of extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Francis M. Treseder (1984) younger brother, John Michael Treseder (1995), and her mother, Harriette B. Treseder (1997). Her legacy is one of kindness, intellect, faith, and love. As she lived, so she is remembered—with open arms and an open heart. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” —John 3:16
