Nina Anastasia Krawczyk

On the nineteenth day of October in the year of Our Lord two-thousand twenty-two, my dear mother departed this world for eternity. She died in one of her favorite times of year, Autumn; during a week filled with the changing colors of the season and icy winds chilling the earth all around; a chill more suitable for winter than early Fall, but she always loved those frigid days. She was preceded in death by her two parents, Fred and Lydia Urchenko, her two in-laws, John and Cecilia Krawczyk, and her younger brother Mark Urchenko. She leaves behind her loving husband and son, Richard and Alexander Krawczyk, her two older brothers, Greg and Andrew Urchenko, as well as scores of friends she has made throughout her lifetime. In life, Nina was a most devoted wife and mother, who tirelessly and lovingly performed the duties of her state. Even up to the end, as her strength was falling, she desired to carry on as if nothing had changed, for in her heart these were the things she wanted to do - to simply and lovingly care for her family. Sacrifices for us were a daily occurrence. There was never a question of taking what was best or better, she would always give it to either my father or me. But she was more than just a mother, she was the dearest of friends and a constant companion. Through the vicissitudes of a childhood moving and then changing schools several times, combined with being an only child, we were closer than most. Friends would come and go, but she was always there. Always trying to give me a good childhood and life, and always there in sorrows and in joys, ever ready to help me through the trials of life. She was a Catholic through and through, who truly lived her faith. She was born into a Russian Orthodox family, but from a very early age, God had implanted within her the desire to be Catholic. Unceasingly she consumed classic spiritual works, until finally the day came of her entrance into the Catholic Church. Yet even from the start, she realized the vast differences between what she had read in those old books - what she knew to be true - and what instead she was witnessing in person due to the devastating effects of the Second Vatican Council and Modernism. But, Almighty God protected and guided her to the truth as He always had and would continue to do, and through her, He brought our whole family to it as well. In my youth, she took me to complete the nine First Fridays, and later she would go on to practice the Holy Hour every Thursday in reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She also made the five First Saturdays, recited the Rosary daily, and made the total Consecration to Our Lady, as directed by St. Louis de Montfort. It can be no wonder then that in the end, she died as she had lived - consoled and fortified by the Last Sacraments of the Church, the Apostolic Blessing, the prayers for the dying, and prayers from clergy and friends from around the world. Almighty God brought to a happy conclusion a life which always sought to do His holy Will, and now we pray that perpetual light may shine upon her and forevermore may she rest in peace! .
