Meta Ryan

Meta Ryan, 85, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at her home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Meta was born on May 16, 1940, and grew up in New Jersey. Over the course of her life, she called several places home, including Montville, New Jersey; Dublin and Powell, Ohio; and, ultimately, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Meta worked as an administrative assistant and conference planner and had a natural ability to bring people together. She carried that same grace and confidence into every part of her life. She lived a full and meaningful life surrounded by family, friends, travel and the many things she loved. Above all else, Meta valued family. She treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took particular joy in spending time with them and spoiling them whenever she could. Her family was the center of her world and the memories she created with them will be cherished for generations. Meta loved to travel, spend time with her friends, play golf, go to the theatre and simply enjoy the sunshine. She had a poised and polished presence, but beneath that elegance was a quick wit and a strong personality. She was never afraid to speak her mind and those who knew her will remember her for her honesty, humor, warmth, and unmistakable spirit. Meta was preceded in death by her first husband, William Popplewell; her husband, Jack Ryan, who passed away in 2015; her sister, Carole Manla; and her parents, Elsie Werner and Hans Werner. She is survived by her children, Scott Popplewell and Bonnie Porter; her stepchildren, Peter Ryan and his wife Debbie, and Steve Ryan and his wife Linda; her grandchildren, Brittany Moonan and her husband Patrick Moonan, Breanne Wilush and her husband Andrew Wilush, Jack Ryan and his fiancée Kelli Accardi, Kyle Ryan, Brooke Putney and her husband Michael Putney, Benjamin Porter and Emerson Ryan; her great-grandchildren, Conor Moonan, Chloe Moonan, Weston Wilush, Walker Wilush, Wells Wilush, Warner Wilush, and Lila Putney. Meta leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and a lifetime of memories filled with love, laughter, travel, friendship and most of all, family. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered. A private graveside service will be held for the family.
