Kenton Pavey Martin

Kenton (Kent) Pavey Martin, 61, of Grove City, Ohio, was carried home by heaven’s angels on November 15, 2025, and received into the Kingdom of God as he surrendered to the loving arms of Christ Jesus, greeted by his adoring wife of 34 years, Rose Lynn Martin, who preceded him in death by just seven weeks. Kent will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him as a pure-hearted, good-natured, fun-loving soul. Kent and his wife, Rose, met while they were both working for the State of Ohio. They had a beautiful, committed marriage that spanned 34 years, during which time they established their family home in Grove City, off Stringtown Road. Kent loved taking care of his yard, and Rose loved tending to her garden. Their house was always filled with the love of daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as Grandpa or Papaw. Kent grew up collecting and playing board games, but eagerly embraced digital gaming as technology evolved from Atari to Nintendo. He spent countless hours teaching his grandkids and great-grandkids the joys and tricks of gaming in his arcade-style mancave, decorated with various collections of comics, movies, games, and puzzles – many of them Star Wars or Disney themed. Kent had a lifelong love of fantasy and science fiction. Their annual trips to Disney with their grandkids were everyone’s favorite tradition, stitching together the years with family vacations and lifelong memories in Orlando, Florida. Kent was a proud American citizen. He and Rose dutifully volunteered at the election polling stations every year. After he retired from the IT industry, he continued to work in the produce department at Giant Eagle grocery store on Stringtown Road, where he befriended many of the regular shoppers. In recent years, Kent faithfully and lovingly cared for his wife, Rose, who needed around-the-clock care. Until everyone is reunited in Heaven, Kent will be dearly missed by his sister Angie Patterson of Atlanta, brothers Jon (and Julie) of Delaware, Greg (and Susan) of Atlanta, Charlie (and Angi) of Westerville, sisters in law Jackie Davis of Orient and Linda (and Larry) Hancock of Frazeysburg, his step-daughters Thresea Hazlett and Danielle Bober, grandchildren Brian Hazlett, Valerie (and Nick) Hill, Travis Bober and great-grandchildren Conner Hazlett, Anthony Hill, Lia Hill, and Braxton Hazlett. He will also be fondly remembered by his Uncle Jon and Aunt Jacquie Pavey of Seattle, many cousins, nieces, nephews, loved ones, friends, co-workers, and caregivers. Kent was preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by his wife Rose Lynn Martin, his parents, Jon Richard and Nancy Pavey Martin of Gahanna, his grandparents, Dr. Charles and Gwen Pavey of Columbus; Clyde and Laura Martin of Columbus; his brother, Wesley Pavey Martin; his grandson, Casey Aaron Hazlett; Uncle Conrad and Aunt Moni Martin; Aunt Jean Martin Hodgson, Uncle Charles and Aunt Bonnie Pavey and cousin JR Pavey. Memorial donations in Kent’s memory are encouraged to Carolyn’s Cottage 3036 Woodgrove Dr, Grove City, OH 43123, where he was lovingly cared for in the last weeks of his life.
