John "J.C." Manker

John “J.C.” Manker, age 80, of Plain City, OH. John passed peacefully from this world to his eternal home with our Lord and Savior on Monday, April 11, 2011. Born in 1930, Middletown, OH. The son of Howard and Mary Manker who preceded him in death, along with his brother, Howard Manker; stepfather, Thomas Lund, first wife, Margie Krasteff Manker, son William Coriell and brother- in-law, John Hambel. Left to cherish his memory for all of her life is his wife of 36 years, Esther; children, Dale Coriell, of WY. and Tamera (Tim) Kaufman of Phoenix AZ; Grandchildren, J.C., Alex and Ben Kaufman; Bill, Katy, and Shannon Coriell; great grandchildren, Trinity and Danika Coriell; brother in-law Roger (Darlene) Hambel and sister- in-law, Marian Hambel; nieces, nephews and, especially close cousins, the Cochrans of Westboro, OH. John loved being with people and meeting new friends and eagerly served as a member of the Reception unit of Aladdin Shrine. John’s greatest joy was working the Shrine Circus and most especially the Friday matinee helping with the specially invited Children. John truly believed in the Shriner’s creed that no man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child. John served as Worshipful Master of New England Lodge #4 F&AM in 1992; Treasurer of the 14th District Masonic Officers Association from 1996 thru 2001, and was a Past President of Worthington Shrine Club. John served Worthington Chapter #287 Order of the Eastern Star as Worthy Patron 1990, 1996 and 1999. He and Esther also became members of Elizabeth Chapter #56, Plain City OH, where they served as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron in 2010. John enjoyed spending special times with his Grand Family of 2000, and all the treasured friends. John also served as aide to the Worthy Grand Matron of 2010. Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011 at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy Street, (Powell Rd./SR 750/ ¼ mile east of Sawmill Pkwy), Powell, OH 43065, where a Masonic Service will follow at 7:00 p.m., all are invited to attend. Friends may also call at the church one-hour prior to the service on Saturday. A funeral service will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Jerome United Methodist Church, 10531 Jerome Road, Jerome, OH (one mile north of Dublin), with an Eastern Star Service given by John & Esther's 2000 Eastern Star Grand Family.Private interment will be at Jerome Cemetery, Jerome OH. The family invites all to share in a luncheon following the service in a celebration of John’s life. John has suffered much illness since 2001 and, by the Grace of God and the wonderful care he has been given, he has enjoyed life to the fullest. We give special thanks to his Doctors, M.J. Cooney and M.D. Ricaurte, also the Doctors, Nurses and Techs., of Davita Dialysis of Dublin.
