Jane Hindes

Jane Frances Pappa Hindes, died Monday, December 19, 2011. Born to Frances and Raymond Pappa in Watertown, NY, she attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School and upon graduation from Watertown High School graduated from Mildred Elly Business College in Albany, NY. Jane met Army Captain Donald W. Hindes later while working at Pine Camp as an administrative assistant. In August, 1943 they were married at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Watertown by her cousin Fr. Edward Burns. After Don’s WWII military service they settled in Greenfield, Ohio raising three children: Donna Hindes Coning-Beery (Jan), John (Gloria) and Meg (Jodie). Jane was active in St. Benignus Catholic Church and several social clubs during their years there developing many life-time friendships. Jane and Don moved to Wesley Glen Retirement Center in Worthington, Ohio in 2002. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Margaret Schwerzmann, her brother John and at Easter, 2011 her beloved husband Don. She leaves behind her three children, her sister Patricia Bano of Liverpool, NY, 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Dorothy Savage, special niece Joanne Savage Davis, special friends Mary Lou Zoldak and Family, Kitty and Frank Batchelder and Mary Ann Hrabley, and many, many friends and family members. Jane was a very happy and grateful lady—always ready to help anyone any way she could and was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves a large, sad hole in our lives but also endless, beautiful, happy memories. The family is especially grateful to the Special Care Staff at Wesley Glen and to the Riverside-HomeReach Hospice group with dear Amanda as her dedicated and caring hospice nurse. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Riverside-HomeReach Hospice, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, OH 43214 in Jane’s name. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00am. THURSDAY, December 22, 2011 at OUR LADY OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 20 East Dominion Blvd., Columbus, OH 43214 (at the corner of E. Dominion and N. High St. one block north of Henderson Rd.) Jane’s grandson The Reverend Jeff Coning will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at approximately 1:00pm. at Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, Ohio.
