James A. Puglisi

PUGLISI James A. Puglisi passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on January 16, 1922 in Norwalk, OH to Grace (Pusateri) and Joseph Puglisi. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne; 3 brothers, Judge Eugene Puglisi, Joseph Puglisi, and “Bobby” (Caroline) Puglisi; and niece Dawn Puglisi. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Mary and Sheila Puglisi; 4 daughters, Pamela (Thomas) Valo, Carole (Bob) Knowlton, Toni (Vince) Ireland, and Natalie (Michael) Reilly; son-in-law John Goodwin; grandchildren, Lucy (Artun) Hatil, Tom (Sara) Arnholt, Tracey (Randy) Willaman, Robin (Charlie) Kelly, George Clark, Mollie Alban, Michael, Jamie, Walter, and John-Mark Valo, Donald Goodwin and Ginger Goodwin; great-grandchildren, Lisa, Joe, Becca, Dylan, Elizabeth, Dominik, J.C., Ashley and Alexis; loving niece Patti (Randy) Poling; nephews, Ron and John Puglisi. Jim’s boyhood home was Ashland, OH where he attended Ashland College. He set a track record which was unbroken for 50 years. Jim graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1947. He later attended Franklin Law School. Jim served in WWII as a naval officer and was awarded 2 bronze stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, the American Campaign, the European-African, and Middle Eastern Campaign Medals. Jim retired from the State of Ohio, Division of Computer Services where he enjoyed his work and many friendships including his good friend, Carroll Neibert. Jim was a great golfer and enjoyed many good times with his lifetime friend, Tom (Lydia) Bear. He enjoyed the friendships of his great neighbors in Worthington. The family appreciates the loving care of HomeReach Hospice and especially his incredible caregiver, Gladys Ruz. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at St. Michael Church, 5750 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085.
