BOARDMAN James S. Boardman, 92, passed away on February 23, 2015 at Friendship Village of Dublin. He was born on June 17, 1922 to Charles H. and Cleo Margaret (Swaim) Boardman II in Columbus, Ohio. Retired President and General Manager of Murray City Coal and Ice Company of Columbus, Ohio. Jim was a member of North Broadway Methodist Church, former President and Secretary of Columbus Northern Lions Club, Lion Melvin Jones Fellow, 1995, Community Lodge #684, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Temple, Life member of 37th Infantry Division Association, Life member of Grandview Heights High School Alumni Association, Hall of Fame Great Lakes Ice Association, Honorary life member of Packaged Ice Association. Attended The Ohio State University, Member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and 2003 graduate of Otterbein College two days before his 81st birthday with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Veteran of WWII, awarded Combat Infantry Badge. Predeceased by wives Elizabeth Ann (Curtain) Boardman and Mary (Abel) Schneider Boardman, brothers Charles H. Boardman III and Jack Boardman. Survived by son James P. (Joyce) of Colorado Springs, CO, daughters Karen Whiteside of Washington C.H., Cynthia Boardman of Bergenfield, NJ and Ellen (Tim) Rook of Gahanna; step-children Tom (Victoria) Schneider of Eugene, OR and Barbara (Gloria Burke) Schneider of Columbus,; grandchildren Daniel and David Curl, Jamie, Brian (Pam), Brandon and Nicholas Boardman, Allison (Alex) Behn and Michael Rook; step-grandchildren Zacree and Daniel Schneider, numerous great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Marilynn Boardman. Memorial service 10 AM, Saturday, February 28, 2015 at North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 E North Broadway, Columbus, Ohio.
