Edwin M. Brown

Edwin Munsey Brown passed away surrounded by family members on June 12, 2026 at 9:20am. Born October 29, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio. Preceded in death by mother and father, Helen L. and Edwin C. Brown; wife, Kay F. Brown; and brother, Kenneth J. Brown. Graduated from North High School mid-year 1956; attended Otterbein University, then drafted into the army at the beginning of the Vietnam War, serving two years active duty and four years inactive reserves; Honorable discharge in 1967. Retired president of The Brown Van and Storage Company for 18 years, working his way up from dispatcher to sales manager to vice president under direction of his father for 23 years. He enjoyed servicing corporate and the public, domestic and international relocations for family’s valuable household goods. Served on the Board of Directors of The Ohio Household Goods Carriers Tariff Bureau for over 25 years. Past President of the Columbus and Franklin County Movers Association. Member of Worthington Presbyterian Church since 1963, member of the downtown Sertoma club with 2007 Sertoman of the Year Award; American Legion. Ed and Kay took many vacations, cruises, and business trips to various locations to include Germany, France, Spain, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Tasmania, Fiji, Puerto Rico, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands. They also enjoyed all of the Hawaiian Islands, especially Maui and had a timeshare on the island for 10 years of fun in the sun. The joy of his life was loving and caring for his wife; Kay Frances (Wetzel) Brown of 56 years of marriage. They were very proud of their two daughters and seven grandchildren. Daughter Laura Kay Shiblaq; Grandchildren Rami, Leila, and Deena Shiblaq. Daughter Cara Beth Gorman; grandchildren Lindsi, Zachary (Lindsey), Tawny and Kobi Gorman, and four great-granddaughters. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg and Susan Wetzel of Hilliard, Ohio. Sam and Susan Wetzel of Springboro, Ohio. Nephews, Brian (Amy) Wetzel, and Valan Brown. In retirement, Edwin volunteered at Riverside Hospital Pathology Department and was employed part-time as a courier delivering medical samples to the pathology lab at Riverside Hospital. Funeral Service will be held on June 22, 2026 at 12pm at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home with Betsy Rice officiating, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085.
