David Lowell Bolon

BOLON David Lowell Bolon, age 92, of Columbus, Ohio was called to be with the Lord on Friday, February 19, 2016. He was born on December 14, 1923, in Girard, Ohio. Dave was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during WWII during which time he received a good conduct medal and victory medal. He was a long time self-employed clock-maker and employee of DeMers Authorized Service in Columbus, Ohio. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Ray and Helen (Herman) Bolon and sister, Ruthe McGhee. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy A. Bolon of Worthington Christian Village in Columbus Ohio; son David Bolon, Jr., of San Diego, California; daughter and son-in-law Debbie Bolon-Feeney and Jon Feeney of Avon, Colorado; daughter and son-in-law Darla Bolon and Mark James of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Alexandra Feeney of Norfolk, Virginia, Andrew Feeney of Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri; and many other friends, neighbors, caregivers at Worthington Christian Village and by all who knew him. Dave had a long and faith-filled membership at Broad Street Christian Church in Columbus, Ohio. He served as an Elder including serving a term as Chairman of the Board of Elders. He taught Sunday school for many years and helped the church begin their orchestra. He was currently member of Church of the Living Word in Columbus, Ohio . Most importantly, he lived his faith in work, family and in all his relationships. Dave played the trumpet in several orchestras, including the Columbus Orchestral Society, Inc., and enjoyed performing in concerts around the city. He enjoyed numerous outdoor activities, including hiking, bicycling, tennis, camping and road trips with his family. Dave will be remembered for generosity, kindness, his altruism, years of volunteer work, and his devotion to his family. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Monday, February 22nd at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME 515 High Street Worthington, OH 43085 located less than one-half mile south of the intersection of US Route 161 and US 23 (High Street), telephone: (614) 885-4006.
