Barbara R. Stadt

Barbara Rosanne Stadt, Age 80, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 12, 2023, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. Barb was born on March 31, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Fred and Clara (Dolecki) Bancroft. Barb was preceded in death by her parents and by the love of her life and husband, Donald H. Stadt. Barb is survived by her loving children, Lesley (Jon) Walden and Tyler Stadt, as well as her only grandchild, Laney Walden. Barb is also survived by her treasured brother Jim (Cece) Bancroft, brother-in-law Jim Stadt, sister-in-law Carol Stadt, nieces and nephews Amy (Dale) Williams, Elizabeth Bancroft, Bill Stadt, Jr., Wendy (Alex) Hatfield, April (Chris) Fletcher, John Stadt, and great nieces/nephews, Bella and Mia Williams, and Ryan Stadt. In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Bob Stadt, Bill Stadt, and her sister-like childhood friend, Dorothy Mahon. In addition to her frequent dinners out with Tyler and almost-nightly calls with Cece, some of Barb’s favorite times were spending time with extended family (including Clarence Williams, Denise Williams, Aurianna Hobson, and Patricia and Larry Walden) for holidays and birthday celebrations. Barb also loved dogs and visited with her daughter’s dog Skylar during family events while enjoying their porch swing. Barb never knew a stranger. She loved to socialize with anyone and everyone, especially while attending her granddaughter’s or great nieces’ events or with friends from her over 42 years in the Beta Sigma Phi social sorority at their frequent gatherings. Barb’s humor, spirit, and kind heart made her a friend to everyone. After moving to Ohio from Illinois, Barb spent many years making new “friends” while working at Westerville’s Lazarus, Polaris Macy’s, or through her more than 35 years of selling Avon. Barb was known for her witty notes. She loved her weekly routine of getting her hair done, lunches with friends and constant phone conversations. Barb never had wi-fi or a smart phone, and probably single-handedly kept many mail order catalog operators employed. Barb will be greatly missed. Thank you for sharing in Barb’s life. Family will receive friends at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington, OH on Sunday, February 19, 2023 between 3 and 5 p.m. A service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Westerville Community United Church of Christ, where Barb had attended frequently with daughter Lesley, presided by Pastor Susan Langner.
