Anne Foltz

Anne Clark Foltz passed away at Friendship Village of Dublin, Ohio on February 24, 2025 with her family at her side. Anne was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 11, 1933. She was adopted by James L. and Beatrice Clark who took her to live in Coalton, Ohio. Soon thereafter, they moved to Vinton, Ohio where she attended grade school. In 7th grade they moved to Rio Grande, Ohio where her dad was the school principal. She was valedictorian her senior year at Rio Grande High School. Subsequently she enrolled at The Ohio State University. This is where she met future husband John Charles Foltz. While at Ohio State she became a member of Delta Zeta sorority, and was inducted into Mirrors (sophomore honorary), Chimes (junior honorary), Mortar Board (senior honorary), and Phi Upsilon Omicron (Home Economics honorary). She received her B.S. in Home Economics Education in 1954 and was selected as an IFYE (International 4-H Youth Exchange) and lived in Ireland for 6 months before returning to work as a 4-H agent in Delaware County, Ohio. John was commissioned in the Navy and she and John were married on June 24, 1956. Later they moved to Newport, Rhode Island, where their son – John Clark - was born and John taught at the Naval Officers Candidate School. In 1959, they moved to Virginia when John took a position with the Future Farmers of America, and this is where their daughter Mary Beth was born. Anne went on to start graduate work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and was a Certified Home Economist. She taught in schools in Fairfax County, Virginia and at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Graduate School. She was a 4-H volunteer leader in the Virginia 4-H program. When John took a job in Ohio in 1977, they moved back and Anne completed her MS in 1979, at The Ohio State University in Human Ecology (Home Economics) with an emphasis on family relations and human development. She also worked for almost 20 years as an OSU Academic Advisor and program coordinator. Anne served as President of the Ohio 4-H Foundation and was inducted into the Ohio 4-H Hall of Fame in 2009, in recognition of her tireless work to strengthen and expand Ohio 4-H. She was on the National Board for Mortar Board senior collegiate honorary for a number of years and in 2017 was recognized with their Distinguished Lifetime Membership award. She also served as President of the Lakeside Ohio Women’s Club and she and John owned a summer home at Lakeside for 35 years. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 65 years, John Charles Foltz in 2021. She is survived by her son John Clark Foltz (Barbara); daughter Mary Elizabeth Arensberg (Bradley); 3 grandsons – John Richard Foltz (Jessica), James Clark Foltz (Michelle) and Mark Bradley Arensberg; 1 granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Arensberg; 2 great-granddaughters – Loghan Juanita Foltz and Kensley Blair Foltz and 2 great-grandsons – Andrew John Foltz and Luke Maxwell Foltz.
