Amelia "Midge" Brooker

Amelia "Midge" Brooker, passed away peacefully on March 20th 2016, at The Sanctuary At Tuttle Crossing, in Dublin, Ohio where she was a resident for the past 2 years. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted A. Brooker and her beloved daughter, Kathleen Quaresima. She is survived by her son, Ted M. Brooker of Albuquerque, New Mexico and her daughter and son-in- law, Carol and James Guthrie of Dublin, Ohio and son-in- law James Quaresima of Rockville Centre, New York. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lauren(Joel) Justice, Ryan(Soraya) Guthrie, John Guthrie, Amanda Quaresima and Courtney Quaresima. Midge has three Great Grandchildren, Logan Justice, Aria Guthrie and Riley Justice with an expected fourth grandchild due in June. She is also survived by her niece, Patricia Barylick and her nephew, Kenn Stevenson. Midge was born on April 5th, 1925 and raised in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn, New York by Polish immigrant parents, Julia and Michael Orlowski. She was the youngest of four children. She graduated from James Madison High School in 1943 during WWII and went on to work at the Maritime Base there and then the F4U Corsair Fighter Plane manufacturing plant in Hartford, Connecticut. After the war, she met her husband Ted, who served as an Army Air Force Captain in the Pacific Theater who was also from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. They got engaged at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and were married at St. Marks' Church in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn on November 18, 1950. They raised their family in Sheepshead Bay and in North Massapequa and Jericho on Long Island. Midge loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling. She and Ted made several trips to Europe visiting Italy, England, Ireland, Spain, Greece, France and Austria. Midge was also an avid reader enjoying all sorts of biographical novels about European Royal Families, the Kennedys and Hollywood movie stars. A family service will be held at the Union Cemetery Mausoleum on Wednesday, March 23rd at 10:30 AM. The Family of Amelia "Midge" Brooker would like to thank the dedicated and hard working staff of the Sanctuary at Tuttle Crossing for all of the compassion and love they gave our mom as well as all of the residents living there. Words cannot express the gratitude, respect and love we have for all of the staff who were the rock we leaned on throughout this final journey of Mom's life. We are eternally grateful and we have told you all that there is a special place in heaven for you and all people who work with the elderly. May God Bless You!
