A. Victor Woods, age 84, of Powell, Ohio, passed from this world peacefully on July 19, 2015, at home and surrounded by those who loved him. Born January 22, 1931, Pasadena, CA. Graduate, Bexley High School. B.S., Ohio State (Phi Gamma Delta). Decorated jet fighter pilot and flight instructor, US Air Force. Long and successful career as insurance agent; president and principal of Thomas-Fenner-Woods Insurance Agency, Columbus OH. Active in numerous professional groups, including Independent Insurance Agents of Columbus (president), Lancaster Insurance Board (president). A committed leader and volunteer in many community service organizations, including Upper Arlington (“UA”) Rotary Club and the UA Rotary Foundation (president, board member, Paul Harris Fellow), Boy Scouts of America (Simon Kenton Council --commissioner, executive council, founder In School Scouting program, recipient Silver Beaver Award), Franklin County Juvenile Court Diversion Program (volunteer of the year award), National Society to Prevent Blindness – OH Affiliate (president, board member, house of delegates, national committee), UA Booster Club (treasurer), UA Civic Assoc. (director), UAHS PTO (president), Jones Jr. High PTO (president). A man of strong faith with longstanding ties to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in UA (church council, president of congregation, Sunday school teacher). Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Diane deBruin Woods, as well as Esther Morgan Woods (mother), and A. Victor Woods, Sr. (father). Survived by Gloria W. Gerhold (sister) of Lancaster, OH; son C. Craig (Carole Watkins) Woods of Powell, OH; daughters Stephanie W. (Donald) Phillips of Pataskala, OH, Alyson W. (Thomas) Kaczkowski of Powell, OH, and Leslie W. Blair of Whitefish, MT; grandchildren Morgan C. Woods, Victor H. Kaczkowski, Lindsey M. Woods, Nicholas H. Kaczkowski, Shelby D. Woods, Amy M. Watkins, Thomas H. Kaczkowski, Jill A. Watkins, Jack W. Blair, Adam J. Phillips, and Jack D. Phillips, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his second wife, Ann M. Woods of Cornelius, NC, step-daughter Mary M. (Rodney) Reames of Charlotte, NC, Mindy M. Burns of Cornelius, NC; and step-grandchildren Abby (Kyle) Seymour, Casey Reames, Walter Reames, Holly (Ben) Hill, Brandy (Clay) Johnson, and Hunter Roberts. Family will receive visitors at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell 43065, on Friday August 7 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service to be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2001 Northwest Blvd, Upper Arlington, OH 43212 on Saturday, August 8, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Vic to the Upper Arlington Rotary Foundation (P.O. Box 12013, Cols. OH 43212), Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, or the Shepherd’s Corner at Trinity Farm (4267 Courter Rd. SW, Pataskala, OH 43062).
