January 30, 1974 - April 18, 2021
It is with heavy hearts and a great deal of sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Shannon Michelle Russell. Shannon was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Aunt, Niece Cousin, and friend. She left this world suddenly on april 18th, 2021 at the very early age of 47. She was born on January 30th, 1974 to James and Sherrie Russell in Fresno California. Shannon was ambitious and chased several dreams but nothing compared to her role as a Mother and later a grandmother. Her love and devotion to Samantha and then later Shanel were always above and beyond. She loved them to infinity and beyond. The simplest pleasures of life brought great joy to Shannon. She loved cooking in the kitchen and making delicious meals for her family. She loved sitting and watching Shanel, Kahri and Samantha interact often boasting about their perfection. She loved family and cookouts and spending time with people she loved. She loved fishing with Bill, and catching TINY little fish, she liked hiking and spending time in nature, she loved bonfires, the lake, and anything that brought her family together. Lightning bugs always fascinated her and captured her soul. She loved thunderstorms and watching them from afar. She despised ladybugs and couldn't be convinced that they didn't bite! She collected and had a love for giraffes after she followed April's birth in 2017, obsessively of course, she fell in love with that baby being born. She would call her whole list of people everyday to update us on April's progress. It was motherhood that captured her. She had a deep love in her soul for all children and always cheered for the underdog. On October 12th, 2020 my sister's life was forever changed by the birth of her first and only granddaughter Shanel. The birth of her own daughter stood unmatched until she witnessed Samantha grow and give birth the next generation of us. She was in awe, a more flawless beauty had never been witnessed. Watching her daughter give birth to her perfect granddaughter was Shannon's proudest most glorious moment on earth. When she looked at Shanel, she took on a new glow. She radiated joy and happiness. The pride could be witnessed in every single picture they took together. Shannon had the most unique sense of humor. She often set up pranks around the office and even at home, always being the only one to keep a straight face. My brother and I taught her that poker face so she wouldn't get us in trouble with guilt written on it. Shannon will be lovingly remembered by her fiance' Bill James, her daughter and son in law Samantha and Kahri Scott, her granddaughter Shanel Scott, her sister Debi Russell, her brother and sister and law Jim and Maria Russell, her step sister Colette Prokopow, her nieces and nephews, Logan and Logan Burstrom, Tyler Russell, Ciourtney Russell, Robert Colememan Jr, , her cats Meow Meow, Chuck and Sophia, and numerous other family members and friends. All that loved her dearly admired her tenacity, quick wit, charming personality, infectious laugh, and her undying love and generosity for them. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Sherrie Russell, her son Nathaniel, her grandparents, and her beloved pets. Shannon will be honored by a private viewing for family and close friends on Friday April 23rd from 5pm-7pm, the funeral service is scheduled for Saturday April the 24th at 9:30am at Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home in Worthington, Ohio. A graveside service will immediately follow at Galloway Cemetery in Galloway Ohio.
