Richard Allen Lowe

October 24, 1931 - November 16, 2021

Richard “Dick” Allen Lowe of Columbus, Ohio passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the age of 90. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and his humor brought a smile to everyone around him. Dick was born in Columbus, Ohio to Clarence Allen and Lorene (nee Bohnen) Lowe. He had one older sibling, Williard Lowe. Dick attended North High School and joined the Army in 1949. He was medically discharged in 1950 due to rheumatic fever. Shortly afterward, he met and married the love of his life, Juanita “Jean” Baxter, and together they raised three children. Dick worked primarily in sales throughout his life, where his outgoing personality made him a natural salesman. He started several businesses, including Showboat Marine, a boat store that he and Jean ran successfully for over 15 years until his stroke in 1995. Upon retirement, he and Jean moved to Crystal River, Florida, where they enjoyed life in warmer weather until moving back to Ohio in 2012 to be closer to family. Dick loved adventure, and enjoyed water skiing, racing motorcycles, golfing, and camping trips with his family. Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean, to whom he was married for over 67 years. He is survived by his daughters Rebecca Goske (James) and Diana Lowe, and son Richard Lowe, as well as six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Dick was a loving and fun father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family. A visitation will take place on Monday November 29th, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 1 PM at the Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home 515 High Street Worthington, Ohio 43085. A memorial service will follow with Pastor Phil Conrad officiating.
