Phyllis M. Byers

Phyllis M. Byers 86 of Dublin, Ohio died peacefully at home of natural causes February 1, 2021. She was Born in Dover, Clare County Michigan June 5th 1934 to Parents Roy A. Hoover and Mirla Budd Hoover. She attended the Dover School and Clare High School. She married Herbert N. Byers Sr. of Clare. She was a homemaker and mother of 3 children, Herbert N. Byers Jr., Paula J. Byers Gross and Benjamin J. Byers. The majority of the family years were in Mt Vernon, Ohio where she was member of the First Presbyterian Church and supported her children’s endeavors such as Boy Scout troop 339, Knox County Junior Miss, High School Band Boosters, to name a few. She was an avid cook, baker and homemaker and above all lived to be a mother and grandmother. She cherished her 3 children and found that to be her highest calling. She supported her husband and family through the travails of life and found immense pleasure in her 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Later years living in Zanesville, Ohio she was an active member and deacon, of the Central Presbyterian Church & East Side Ministry. She was extremely active in Hospice of Zanesville and The Zaney Follies fundraiser for which she served over many years from set crew, occasional performer and chairperson. For nearly 20 years she enjoyed the winters at St. George Island, Florida with the beach, sun, dolphins and eagles. She had an amazing group of friends that kept her young and vibrant. She loved her gardening, flowers and attracting wildlife to her yard. She is preceded in death by her father Roy, Mother Mirla, and Brothers Dwayne, Ben, and Dan, her husband Herbert, and beloved daughter Paula. She was an avid dog lover and was also preceded by Posh and Ace who were her devoted companions and beach bum. She is Survived By children Herbert N. Byers Jr (Cherilyn) Lakewood OH, Benjamin J. Byers (Connie), Dublin, OH, Grand Children; Leslee Creighton (Sean), Oakwood, OH, Trace Lysette Byers, Los Angeles, CA, Roy Byers, Lakewood, OH, Rachel Gross-Prinz (Noam), Hannah Gross (Tyler) of New York, NY, Brent Bumgardner (Will) Austin, TX and Bryce Bumgardner (Jennifer) Columbus, OH Family and friends plan to gather at her home of Dover MI. in June for a Memorial Service.
