Neil S. Branson

June 12, 1969 - May 9, 2022

Neil Scott Branson, 52, of Westerville, Ohio, died peacefully at home on Monday, May 10, 2022. Born June 12, 1969, to Robert and Judy, in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Dublin High School in 1987. Neil married Jennifer Carpenter on July 30, 1994, in Westerville, Ohio, and they had three sons. Neil retired from the Franklin County Sheriff’s office after 22 years of serving and protecting. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #9. Neil served four years in the Army with the first half in Mannheim, Germany, and completing his military service in Ft. Knox as an instructor and serving on the Honor Guard for two years. Neil amassed an amazing number of friends in his lifetime and was deeply respected by his law enforcement family. Neil, and his family, were very grateful for the selfless gift he received from Candy Clark, who donated a kidney which gave him precious time. Neil enjoyed life, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, riding motorcycles and became a Bingo Shark in his last years. He loved being with his sons, spending nights at the skatepark and going to Cedar Point with them. He also enjoyed playing video games but getting so mad when he got leg cramps and had to stop! Neil loved the dogs in his life, bringing home Pokey first, then Killian and Guiness, and lastly, his trusted protector, Mojo. He is survived by his sons, Mitchell, Marshall and Macklin, his sister Sheri (Tony) Duncan, his father Robert, his niece Megan (Derek) Chenoweth, his grandnephew Elliott and his nephew Nick Rothwell. He is also survived by his Uncle Ronnie Bower, Uncle Billy (Mary) Bower, his cousins Jodelle, Jimmy, Jamie, Chris and Shawn Bower. Neil also is survived by his childhood lifetime friends Chris Miller, Tony and Chris Brown (Frick & Frack). Neil was preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer, of 20 years, mother Judy, grandparents Gerald & Virginia Branson, Bill and Lillian Bower, Uncle Ricky Bower, and his lifetime friend Danny Bonham. Visitation will be Friday, May 13, 2022, with a viewing from 6-8 pm at Rutherford Corbin, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio. Burial will follow at a later date next week. The family suggest that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
