Mary Ellen Woods

June 24, 1931 - February 4, 2022

Mary Ellen Woods (Mackert), of Worthington, Ohio, died Feb. 4, 2022 at age 90. Mary Ellen was “the best mother in the world”, a fierce advocate for her children and husband Jack, completely devoted to her family’s welfare and happiness. She single-handedly and heroically cared for her beloved husband Jack after his debilitating stroke in 2002 until his death 10 years later. Her son died suddenly at age 48 a mere weeks before Jack’s stroke. Despite the enormous heartaches, she loved to laugh, and enjoyed Scrabble and Balderdash, puns, crosswords, and reading, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her son Jack D. Woods and her husband of 63 years, Jack L. Woods. She is survived by daughters Eileen (Richard Stuhr) Woods; Diane (Robert Hawley) Woods; granddaughter Kelly Woods of California; sister Patricia Jones of Colorado, and nieces and nephews. At Mary Ellen’s request, there will be no visitation hours, with a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
