Kenniston Waite Case

Lt. Col. Kenniston W. Case (retired), age 79, died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Ohio State University Medical Center. Preceded in death by wife, Linda Harris Bass Case and son, Dana Case. Survived by sons, Steve (Sonja) Case, K. Scott Case, Michael Case; stepsons, Steve (Betsy) Bass, Brian Bass, Tim (Erica) Bass; grandchildren, Jonathan & Jeffrey Case, Rebecca Bass and Amy (Corey) Hoffmannbeck, Jennifer and Jeremy Bass, Ana Lin Bass; great granddaughter, Allison Bass. Graduate of North High School Class of 1950, attended The Ohio State University, Army OCS, and Command & Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Ken served his beloved Ohio National Guard and U.S. Army as a field artillery commander. He served on General Staff, National Guard, was promoted to Lt. Col. at Ft. Jackson SC, and served at the Pentagon and Ft. McClellan, AL. He served a total of 41 years in the Ohio National Guard, active U.S. Army, and the U.S. Army Reserves during both the Korean and Vietnam war eras. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Award and Army Commendation Medal twice, among many other decorations. He was a salesman for over 30 years for Blue Cross, H.J. Heinz Co., Phillip Morris, and was Columbus Regional Manager for Trustmark Ins., Chicago. Ken was an avid sailor and boater on Lake Erie, and was a member of the Northeaster Club and the Foxhaven Club on Catawba Island. Ken was a little league coach for the Gahanna Trojans and the Reynoldsburg Colts in the 1960's and 70's. Ken was a gardener, handyman, lifelong Buckeye fan, and was a member of American Legion Post 0888, the Old North Hi Club, Reserve Officers Assoc., and the National Guard Assoc. of U.S. He honored his commitment to Duty - Honor - Country - and Family. Friends may call at SOUTHWICK-GOOD & FORTKAMP FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3100 N. High St. Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., where funeral service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Union Cemetery.
