Julius E “Dewey” Manshum, 75, of Columbus passed away February 5, 2022 peacefully at home. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan November 27, 1946 the son of Albert and Gwendolyn (Baragar) Manshum. Dewey received his CM from Ohio University in 1986. He had a long career in Information Technology and retired from Insight Direct USA after working as a Senior Project Manager/US & Global Integration Coordinator. He loved Ohio State Football, the Detroit Lions, to play “at” golf and euchre. He volunteered for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and received their “1995 Family Member of the Year” Award. He was a member of St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Powell and served in the US Air Force from 1965-1969, doing tours of duty in both the Philippines and Vietnam. He is preceded in death by is first wife Joyce Manshum, siblings Everil Manshum, David Manshum, Peggy Peacock, Mary Manshum, brothers-in-law Rich Korcal and JR Goorehouse; nephew Greg Manshum and niece Sara Korcal-Schultz. Surviving is his wife of 21 years, Marie; daughter Ashley (Robert) Siler, stepchildren Matthew (Stephanie) McVay, Jaclyn McDaniel, Richard (Kristin) McVay; Grandchildren Madeleine, Reiley, Garrison, Austin, Hailey, Elliot, Jude, Landry, Robert and Lincoln; Sisters Charlotte Korcal and Roberta Goorehouse, Brothers Evart “Dutch” (Judy) Manshum, Roger (Dee) Manshum, Richard Manshum and Albert Jr (Debbie) Manshum; Sisters-in-law Dixie Manshum and Carol Manshum; Brother-in-law Robert Peacock. Many nieces and nephews and numerous close friends. A memorial visitation to celebrate the life of Dewey will be held at Rutherford Funeral Home in Powell, Ohio on Thursday April 21, 2022 from 5-7pm at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St, Powell Ohio. The family asks you to bring funny stories you remember about Dewey. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Rd, Powell, OH 43065 at 10:30 AM on Friday April 22, 2022. A luncheon will be provided at the church following the Mass. Contributions may be made to National Church Residences Hospice, 2245 North Bank Drive, Columbus, Ohio on Dewey’s behalf.
