Joanne M. Schindelar
March 6, 1953 - June 9, 2022
Joanne M. (Princic) Schindelar, 69, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after fighting a recurrence of metastatic breast cancer for over five years. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John, daughters Jessica and Megan (Jordan), and her beloved dog, Bailey; her brother Richard (Susan) Princic, sisters-in-law Barbara (Ken) Mawby, and Patricia (Edward) Stupka, and brother-in-law Robert (Roseanne) Schindelar; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents Tony and Eleanor Princic, her father- and mother-in-law John and Margaret Schindelar, and her niece Sara Princic. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in Willoughby, Ohio. She graduated from Willoughby South High School in 1971, before attending Mount Union College for two years. She met and fell in love with her best friend and partner, John in 1974 and they were married in Chardon, Ohio in 1977. Together they moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina in 1980, where both of their daughters were born. Ohio called them back in 1986 and they settled in Dublin. Joanne devoted her time to her most important job: raising her young daughters, before returning to work part-time when the girls started school. In 1997, she returned to work full-time, serving as the office manager for Wright & Moore Law, where she worked until she retired in 2018. She was an avid golfer. Whether she was playing in couples league with her favorite golf partner, John; traveling with friends to Oglebay, Myrtle Beach, Las Vegas, and various courses throughout North and South Carolina; or playing in and organizing ladies’ leagues, Joanne spent as much time as she could on the golf course. Golf was not just a sport to her; it was a social lifeline. When she wasn’t on the golf course, Joanne loved spending time at the beach – and brought family and close friends together every summer to her happy place, Emerald Isle, North Carolina. She loved nothing more than spending a week with her toes in the sand, watching the ocean, and connecting with her loved ones. She took great pride in her yard, spending many hours working in her flower beds, planting and tending her garden, and relaxing on the patio under the shade of the trees watching the birds. The family will receive visitors and celebrate Joanne’s life on Saturday, June 18 from 2:00-5:00pm at Rutherford Funeral Home in Powell, Ohio (450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, OH 43065). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Joanne’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
