Gloria A. Brehm

Gloria A. Brehm, age 96 passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 at Westerwood of Columbus. She is originally from Lancaster Ohio. After graduation from St Mary’s High School in 1945, she attended Mt. Carmel School of Nursing in Columbus. She finished in 1948 and worked at Mount Carmel Hospital until she started a family. Gloria loved being a nurse and even though she left the hospital setting, Gloria always maintained her license so that she could volunteer as the school nurse at Immaculate Conception School, work blood drives, administer allergy shots and do other volunteer opportunities, putting her nursing skills to work. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic church for over 60 years. Gloria was active in the Women’s Club and many bible studies. Through Women’s Club she organized visits to the state mental hospital once a month to do a craft activity with the residents. Gloria was a sacristan for many years always making sure everything was just perfect for masses, weddings and funerals. She retired from that position in 2015 when they moved to Friendship Village. Gloria always stayed active and was in a bowling league and played bridge and Euchre with women of the IC parish. Her brother Bill introduced her to the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Brehm. Even though they went to the same grade school, they had never met until high school. Dick thought he was destined for the priesthood, but that changed when he met Gloria. Gloria was a loving and very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Proceeded in death by her devoted husband of over 65 years. Richard Brehm; Parents, Thomas and Lyda Kessler and sister Regina. She is survived by her children Joe (Alice), Anne Jackson, Tom (Cathy); 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings Bill (Claire) Kessler, Betty Bingham, and Jerry Kessler.
