Duane Coulter Palmo

Duane Coulter Palmo, age 72, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 13, 2015. Duane graduated from Bethlehem Center High School, Washington County, PA where he was president of the Class of 1960. At the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh) Duane earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design. Duane next earned a Master of Arts degree in radio and television from The Ohio State University. During his professional career, Duane served as an art director, creative director, marketing research manager, business owner, and marketing director. Duane was a past president of the Columbus Advertising Federation. As retirement approached, Duane rediscovered his love of painting and studied with Vivian Ripley, Don Dodrill, Jim Glover, and Mark Gingerich among others. Duane became active in the arts community as a member of the Worthington Area Art League, Central Ohio Plein Air, and The Ohio Plein Air Society. Duane's artwork was shown at numerous venues and earned a number of blue ribbon awards in juried shows. Duane was an avid golfer and greatly enjoyed the fellowship of his foursome, Guy Salvato, Dr. Tom Pepper, and Dan Mowbray at Hickory Hills Golf Club and other golf destinations around the United States, Canada, and Ireland. Duane leaves behind his loving family, his devoted wife of 47 years, Madelon Kosch Palmo; his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Alexander Kosch Palmo and Elizabeth Williams Palmo; Duane was named "Poppy" by his cherished grandchildren, Sofia Isabella Palmo and Luke Thomas Palmo. Duane was predeceased by his sister, Cassie Ann Prado; and brother, Maxwell S. Palmo. Duane is survived by a brother, Dr. Artis J. (Linda) Palmo; he leaves behind many nieces and nephews, most especially, Monique (Andrew) and Nicole, the daughters of his beloved sister, and his nephew, David Scott (Tiffany) Kosch; as well as many cousins, in particular, Joseph (Joanne) Palmo the son of Duane's namesake and deeply loved uncle, Duane Palmo; brothers-in-law, Carlos Prado and Dr. Philip Cobe (Janene) Kosch.
