Donald P. Moon

Donald Paul Moon, 94, of Worthington, Ohio, joined his ancestors on July 11, 2021. Mr. Moon was one of the last metallurgical engineering graduates of Case School of Applied Science prior to its takeover by Western Reserve University. Mr. Moon was an officer in the US Navy during WWII and served in the Navy Reserves. He worked as a metallurgist in the steel industry for five years and at Battelle Memorial Institute for forty years. After twenty of years of research in high-temperature and aerospace structural metals, he switched careers and wrote computer software for data analysis and information management. Mr. Moon was an active member of the Worthington Methodist Church, in the choir and later as an usher. He formerly was a Registered Professional Engineer, a member of American Society for Metals, a member of the chime choir for Friendship Village and a singer with the famed Shelby Male Chorus in Ellwood City, PA. Mr. Moon is survived by his wife of 74 years, Debora, and three daughters: Adrienne (Fred) Lawrence, of Dayton, Nevada; Barbara Young, of Bear, Delaware; Carolyn (Frank) Voytko, of Westerville, Ohio; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A private Memorial Service and Graveside Service with US Naval honors will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Capital City Hospice.
