Dolores Mae Thomas

May 28, 1935 - April 23, 2022

Into the Lord's loving arms, my dear Mother, Dolores Mae Thomas, went on Saturday, April 23, 2022, in Columbus, OH. Dolores was born on May 28, 1935, at the home of her parents, in Cecil, PA. She married her husband, Robert W. Thomas, on October 2, 1954. She lived in Rochester, NY for many years, until moving to Columbus in December 2020. Dolores is survived by her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sherry Thomas, of Columbus, and her four grandchildren, Ryan (Angela) Thomas, Craig (Lauren Bates), Connor Thomas and Jessica Thomas. Mae, as she was fondly called by her family, is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Margaret Fisher of Owego, NY, Aggie Cherokee of Canonsburg, PA, her brother-in-law, Ed (Ginny) Thomas of Spring Hill, FL, her niece, Donna Ream of Conway, AR, as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Thomas, parents, Wassie and Anna (Goga) Cherokee, sisters, Margaret Rose Bruschi and Anna Cherokee and brothers, John, Charlie, Edward, James, William and Robert Cherokee. Dolores embraced and lived her Catholic faith. She and her husband were married for 59 years. They set a wonderful example of what commitment and dedication mean in a marriage. They possessed an amazing work-ethic and value system. Proud to be Americans, they loved their country and were thankful for its opportunities. They loved to go to Polka dances throughout NY and PA. They were an excellent Polka dancing couple. They shared a love for animals, always having a dog by their side. However, their greatest gift shared was simply this: give Love freely and without conditions. There is great comfort and peace in knowing you are now together again with Dad, in the presence of our Lord, and that one-day Love will reunite us for eternity. I am so grateful and honored that you were chosen as my mother and father. The absolute best mother and father with whom I could have been blessed. Funeral services celebrating Dolores' life will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Corpus Christi Parish in Cecil, PA. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cecil, PA. Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to Lollypop Farm or The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
