Dianne Jeanette (Crary) Vohlers Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dianne Jeanette (Crary) Vohlers passed away on October 5, 2021 after bravely facing cancer for several years. Dianne was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1945 and grew up in LaCrosse, Wisconsin before moving to Ohio where she graduated from Westerville South High School in 1963. After attending Otterbein University for a year, she transferred to and graduated from The Ohio State University with honors in 1968. Dianne loved working with children and taught at Westgate Elementary before serving as a site coordinator at various schools with Hilliard City School. She had fond memories of teaching chess, leading games and doing crafts. Dianne loved beautiful things and found and created beauty wherever she went. She loved painting and filled her home with her works of art. She was also a passionate gardener with a variety of interests including presidential history, calligraphy, geology and proper grammar. She loved her family and friends the most and took joy in spending time with them. Dianne is preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Fredric “Ric” Vohlers, and her beloved son, Joseph Vohlers. She also joins in death her mother, LaVon Gustad, sisters Judy Niedenthal and Nancy Arrowsmith, and many other family members and friends including her father, Eugene Crary and her stepfather, Louis Gustad Jr. Dianne leaves behind to celebrate her life and mourn her loss, her children Colleen Barney, Cullen Barney (Melissa) and Greta Vohlers as well as sisters Cindy Phalen (Gary) and Carol Gustad and many loving family members and great friends. She is also survived by loving grandchildren including Jimmy, Evan, Lily, Hayden and Owen. St. Brigid of Kildare church was an important part of Dianne and her family’s life with Monsignor Joseph Hendricks being a loving constant.
