David William Scott passed away on Saturday, October 30th at 9:30 pm at Friendship Village in Dublin, Ohio. He was 95 at the time of his death. David was born in Rockville Center, NY on November 10, 1925 to Austin and Wally Scott. He had one brother, Austin Scott, Jr. David is survived by his two sons, Jerold and Alan, and Alan's wife Brenda. David also has a nephew, Douglas and niece, Rosalind, both of whom live in British Columbia, Canada. David graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in agriculture. He became a sales representative for Nor-Am Agricultural Products which eventually became part of Bayer, Inc. It was while pursuing his career in agriculture that he met his wife, Alice Crenshaw, who was working for the Burpee seed company. David and Alice moved to Indianapolis Indiana where their two sons were born. In 1967 David and Alice moved to Brookside Estates, in what is now Columbus, Ohio. They remained in their house until shortly after Alice died in 2006, when David purchased an apartment in Friendship Village of Dublin. David loved to be active, and played golf and tennis regularly. Most of all he loved sailing, whether it was racing his Thistle at Leatherlips Yacht Club or Sailing on Lake Erie. David also loved to travel, and he and Alice went on a number of trips after retirement, to places such as Nova Scotia, Alaska, and the Galapagos Islands. As a child of the Great Depression, David had a strong belief in frugality and self-reliance, values which he imparted to his sons. He had a long and adventurous life and will be dearly missed. The family is not planning any immediate service. At David's request he will be cremated and interred at the Quaker Kennett Cemetery in Kennett Center, Pennsylvania sometime next spring.
