Darrick W. Hersey

January 28, 1953 - March 1, 2022

Darrick W. Hersey, age 69, of Delaware, OH passed away Tuesday evening, March 1, 2022 with family by his side. He was a loving husband to Margaret (Pirtle) Hersey for almost 41 years and a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son Bradley (Alicia) Hersey of Osgood, IN; daughter Brooke (Steve) Rigdon of Powell, OH; grandchildren Hayden, Amelia, Logan, Lincoln, Isabelle and Miles; mother Maxine Schneider of Acworth, GA; siblings Peggy (Bob) Kapas of Acworth, GA; Wanda (Robert) Thompson of Fort Worth, TX; brother Chris (Rebecca) Hersey and sister Theresa Schneider. He has more in-laws, nieces and nephews than can easily be counted and blessed with more friends than most. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Schneider. Darrick, son of Thomas and Maxine Schneider, was born on January 28, 1953 in Chicago, IL. He was a graduate of Sullivan Business College, a member of the Jaycees of Louisville, KY and also enjoyed volunteering on the Kentucky Rescue Squad. He worked at Kling Company as a computer operator for nine years where he met his loving wife whom he married on May 16, 1981. Darrick began a career at Sysco Food Services where he enjoyed many positions and found his talent as an IT specialist. He retired from Sysco after 30 years and loved playing the role of grandpa. His grandchildren made him smile more than anyone else and he enjoyed teasing them all when they stole his special chair. Throughout his life, Darrick enjoyed traveling, watching football and golf, playing cards, listening to music and laughing with his family. He loved gardening and he was very proud of the “dream patio” he created at his home this past summer. His family will be sure to enjoy this special area for years to come in his honor. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 12. Open house hours will be from 2-6pm with a memorial service at 5pm at Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center - Northpointe Ballroom 1 in the Virginia Building (100 Green Meadows Drive South, Lewis Center, OH 43035).
