Cathy E. Mathias Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Cathy E. Mathias of Powell Ohio passed away Sunday January 17th, 2021 at the age of 63. She was born on January 20th, 1957 to Harold and JoAnn Mathias. Cathy was a 1975 graduate of North High School in Columbus, Ohio. Cathy was a devoted mother and her life brightened when she became a grandmother. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, baking, decorating her home and traveling. She never missed a season or reason to decorate. Cathy was a creative soul who learned to sew at a young age, and her natural talent would lead to over 30 years as a crafter and seamstress. She took great pride in her work which fell nothing short of perfection. Her greatest joy was seeing her granddaughter smile and hearing her sweet laugh. They were kindred spirits. She loved nothing more than spending quality time with Kaley baking, crafting, listening to and playing music together. Cathy is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ellen Britton and Nancy Jo Britton, granddaughter Kaley JoAnn Britton, sisters Mary Ann Weingard and Debbie Collins, brother Jim (Susan) Mathias, nephews Jason (Joni) Biggs, Austin Collins, niece Chelsea (Chris) John, great nieces Kayla Biggs, Katelin Biggs, Cameron John, great nephews Jason Biggs and Cooper John. Private celebration of life was held for immediate family at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner’s Hospital, Columbus Zoo or Charity Newsies of Columbus Ohio.
