Carolyn Ruth Yardley

Carolyn Ruth Yardley entered this world on September 19, 1931, and, after a short illness, left us to be with her Lord at the age of 90 on May 13, 2022. Carolyn is survived by husband Richard (Dick) Yardley, daughter Patricia (Patti) Staats and her husband Tracy, grandson Josh Staats and his wife Elise, sisters Donna Flint and Frances Knight, brother Ed Vance and his wife Kay, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by son Richard (Richie) Yardley, mother Imogene Vance, Father Charles Vance, brother Arthur Vance, and sister Betty Cochran. Carolyn was born in southern Ohio. In 1941, the family moved to the Clintonville area on the north side of Columbus where she attended Clinton Elementary, Crestview Jr. High, and North High schools, graduating in 1949. That fall, she continued her education at Capital University in Columbus where she was a member of the internationally renown Chapel Choir graduating with a degree in music in 1953 Carolyn met her husband Dick during her high school years. They were married on June 15, 1951, at the Indianola Church of Christ in Columbus. During her professional music career, Carolyn served as the choir director for the Riverside Methodist Church and the Upper Arlington Church of Christ. She also was a member of the Vaud-Villities chorus for 60 years. In 1969, Carolyn decided to further her education, entered the teaching profession, and served as an elementary school teacher for 29 years in the Columbus Public School System. She retired in 1998. During 1998, Carolyn served as First Lady of the Aladdin Shrine of Central Ohio while Dick was serving as its Potentate. Carolyn and Dick have always been active in their church and have been members of the Grace Church in Westerville for many years. Throughout her life, Carolyn loved to travel and was most happy when she and Dick were planning some sort of trip. Among the many places they visited were the British Isles, Hawaii, Switzerland, France, Italy, Alaska, Bermuda, the Panama Canal, the European Rivers, the Mediterranean Sea, and the western United States. Over the last 50 years or so, Carolyn and Dick also enjoyed spending as much time as possible at their recently owned condominium in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida. Funeral services will take place on Monday May 23rd, 2022, at 12 PM at the Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home 515 High Street Worthington, Ohio 43085 with Pastor Dick Westinghouse officiating. A visitation will take place also on Monday beginning at 11 AM, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pataskala Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Aladdin Shrine Center 1801 Gateway Cir, Grove City, OH 43123
