In Loving Memory of Yvonne G. Roeger 1937-2024 Yvonne Roeger was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. At age 86, she passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024 while gardening, a favorite pastime. Her love and devotion touched the lives of all who met her. Often Yvonne’s welcoming spark would turn any stranger into a close friend. A Life Well-Lived A beloved daughter of Joseph and Anna Gerich, Yvonne was born on December 26, 1937 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. She graduated in 1954 from Jeannette High School and attended Penn State University where she met her soon to be husband on a blind date. Clarence (C.J.) Roeger and Yvonne were married March 2, 1957. During their 67 years of marriage, they had three children: Suzan, Lori, and David. She spent most of her life as a spectacular homemaker and later worked as an administrative assistant for the Upper Arlington School District. In 1996 Yvonne retired and with her husband went on cruises all around the world. As “Maa,” she spent time enjoying, nurturing, and guiding her six grandchildren (Jaime, Josh, Colleen, Sara, Lorelei, and Quinn) and seven great-grandchildren (Kenny, Jack, Julian, Kate, Adria, Azure, and Delaney). Every visit was honored with a “pillow present,” and every special occasion was remembered with a card and gift. She loved gardening, feeding “her” deer in the backyard, taking and sharing pictures, and a good game of Euchre. She was also a member and volunteer of the St. Joan of Arc Parish in Powell, Ohio. Yvonne was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Mary Ella Kopia. She is survived by husband, Clarence; daughters, Suzan (Mark) Cloud and Lori Atkinson; son, David (Katie) Roeger, and her sister, Joanne Farmer. May she rest in peace. Visitation will be Monday, August 26th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio 43065. On Tuesday, August 27th at 11:00 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Road, Powell OH 43065. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 North High Street, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035 will be followed by a reception between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at the home in Powell.
