Yvonne M. Bussard

Yvonne M. Bussard, 86, of Columbus, Ohio, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, May 2, 2026 — her father's birthday — at Dublin Methodist Hospital. Born on Valentine's Day, 1940, in Junction City, Ohio — a date that suited her perfectly — Yvonne was the eldest daughter of Paul A. and Mary T. (Gordon) Boley. She graduated from St. Aloysius Academy of New Lexington, Ohio, class of 1958, and went on to build a life defined by devotion: to her faith, to her family, and to our loving home. For Yvonne, love was something she did with her hands. She worked in her flower beds with the patience of someone who understood that beauty grows slowly. She sewed with care and discovered jewelry-making as another creative hobby. Above all, she cooked — not merely well, but memorably. For the years her youngest was in grade school, she worked in the school cafeteria serving lunch. She later worked at the Columbus Public Library until retirement. In her later years, she delighted in sharing her love of crafts with her grandchildren, passing along the same patient, creative hands that had always defined her. Her faith was not only a Sunday obligation but a daily practice. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and gave herself freely to its service whenever possible. Yvonne was immensely proud of her three adult children, and she lit up around her grandchildren. She also had a special and unique relationship with each sister. Yvonne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard A. Bussard and son-in-law, Anthony T. Raphael II. She is survived by her children Patricia (Rex) Brown, Carol L. Raphael, and Thomas R. (Kara) Bussard; grandchildren Anthony T. Raphael III, Alexandra G. Raphael, Thomas J. Bussard, Tyler R. Bussard, Nicole (Nicholas) Ferreri, and Travis (Abby) Brown; great-grandchildren Hugo and Ileana Ferreri, Hope and Beau Brown; sisters Constance Boley, Madonna (Gerald) Callahan, Mary (Tim) Blubaugh, Joann (Jack) Flautt, Rita (Tom) Teagardner, and Janet (Steve) Gauntner; extended family; John Businger, Allen Turpin, and Lindsey Rothermund; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were made richer for knowing her.
