Willie Elizabeth "Liz" Dehnbostel

Willie Elizabeth (Liz) Purvis Dehnbostel (nee Sigrist) went home with the Lord on January 26, 2021 at the age of 84 peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her special friend, Lawrence Clark, who resides in Willowbrook Nursing Home, Worthington, Ohio. Elizabeth was born to Eula and Charles (Charlie) Gentry in Shipman, Virginia on September 20, 1936. She was the baby of a blended family (Gentry and Sigrist) with 12 siblings, all of whom predeceased her except for Margaret Parsons. Liz graduated from Nelson County High School in 1954 with a full scholarship to the University of Virginia but she married her high school sweetheart and supported him in his military career. She worked for the Federal Government as a contract specialist in District of Columbia and then at DCSC in Columbus, Ohio. She worked hard to raise four children as a single parent, many times working two or three jobs. She is survived by her four children – Donald (Lisa) Purvis of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Dona (Willard) Givens of Worthington, Ohio; Rachel (Tom) Grady of Powell, Ohio; and Theresa (Bob) Capace of Worthington, Ohio; as well as special nieces who were like daughters – Karen Carriveau and Millie Gabersek. Liz leaves behind her grandchildren and great grandchildren, the loves of her life to cherish her memory - Allen Purvis of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Christopher and James Purvis of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Elizabeth Givens (Michael Brown) of Hilliard, Ohio; Kathryn Givens (Cody Berger) of Dublin, Ohio; Emma Givens (Jared Platt) of Powell, Ohio. Jessica Grady and Jennifer Grady (Tony Richie) of Powell, Ohio; Erik (Amanda) Binford, Rosedale, Indiana; Michael (Brittany) Hawkins, Worthington, Ohio; Michael Capace (Daisy Nava) of Denville, New Jersey; Hayden Capace (Ann Roche), Columbus, Ohio; and Carlie (Dennis) Coyne, Westerville, Ohio. Liz loved her great grandchildren, spending as much time with them as she possibly could. GiGi will be missed greatly by Harlee, Kaleb, Peyton, Gabriel, Kane, Coen, Emilia and Adalynn. For many years, Liz enjoyed Opera Columbus and doing costumes for them. She also loved dancing and took lessons and danced through Fred Astaire studios. She loved traveling, especially using her Wyndham Vacation Resort for herself and her family. The family wishes to thank the wonderful medical team that she has had, especially Dr. Edward Arcy, her family physician for over 30 plus years; as well as Dr. Amy Lee, her pulmonologist, and Ohio Health Hospice who with the physicians and nursing staff helped take care of Liz in her final days, not only supporting her but her family. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, with a private service to follow. Interment will be Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery, Chapel A. There will be a Celebration of Life at a future date when we can all celebrate together.
