Travis Jon Nicely

Travis Jon Nicely, 28, of Powell, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, October 20, 2019. From the moment Travis was born, he was faced with a great hardship due to a congenital heart defect. Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting Travis knows that the last thing he lacked was heart. Travis was a fiercely compassionate friend, brother and son. Travis touched everyone around him through his unique sense of humor, his captivating smile and his infectious laugh. His love and compassion were guided by his faith in God. Travis loved his family--his parents, his two brothers, Jake and Colton, and their dog, Zoey. Travis wouldn’t miss a Sunday at home with his family, because of his special bond with his brothers. Travis was also very close to his grandparents, all of his aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He loved spending vacations with his family and was always known among them as the life of the party. Travis was a friend to all, and would go out of his way to bring people together. Travis touched the lives of people throughout the world, through his longtime friendships and his online community. Travis loved spending his weekends with his friends playing games, attending concerts, and hanging out at Rooster’s. Travis was more than just a sports fan, but rather his enthusiasm for Ohio sports was at the core of his identity. Travis wouldn’t miss the opportunity to attend any sporting event, whether it be a Buckeye game with his Popa, an Indians or Blue Jackets game with his dad and brothers, or a wrestling match with his friends. He brought the same level of passion to it all. Travis is a graduate of Dublin Jerome High School, Class of 2009. He attended Bowling Green University and worked at Jeni’s Ice Cream and Remedy. Travis most recently attended Columbus State University, majoring in Business Management. Travis is survived by parents, Charles and Diana; brothers, Jacob and Colton; grandparents, Alfred and Judy Nicely, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, David and Anna Timberlake. Friends may call from 6-8pm Thursday, October 24th at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio 43065. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, October 25th at Dublin Community Church, 81 West Bridge Street, Dublin, Ohio with Rev. Lisa Bowersock officiating. Burial: Oller Cemetery. We are extremely grateful for the outstanding medical care that Travis received at the Children’s Hospital, which allowed him to live a meaningful life.
