Sharon Gayle Sword Pemberton, 72, of Columbus, Ohio passed away suddenly June 10, 2026 in Columbus. Born March 04, 1954 to Naomi Mullins Gannon and Kenis Edward Gannon in Pikeville, Kentucky. Her mother married Duran Sword when Sharon was an infant and Sharon's last name was changed to Sword. Sharon grew up in Powell, Ohio and attended Olentangy High School Delaware, Ohio. She married Eric Pemberton in Columbus. Sharon, affectionately known as "Momma Sherry" leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her. A devoted wife, mother, and cherished grandmother, she remains an example of true love and generosity. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone into her circle of friendship with open arms, providing protective, unconditional love and respect. Sharon was a happy, funny and gifted storyteller. She brought endless laughter and joy to every conversation. What truly set her apart was her unmatched inner strength and unwavering positivity. She was a constant source of light and encouragement, always lifting others up with her generous and selfless spirit. She gave from the boundless warmth of her heart, entirely without expectations or the need for recognition. While her sudden passing leaves a massive space that can never be filled, her extraordinary legacy of love and comfort will live on forever in the many beautiful memories of all left to mourn. We love you Momma Sherry. You will remain forever in our hearts. Sharon is survived by her husband, Eric Pemberton. Her sons and their beloved spouses, Billy and Tiffany DeMatteo, Lucas DeMatteo and Angela Wilson. She is also survived by her grandsons Xavier Yakopovich and Ayden DeMatteo. Also left to mourn are her sisters Durana Sword Brown (Edward "Ed") of Delaware, Ohio, Cheryl Sword Matheny of Westerville, Ohio and Les Paul "Rocky" Sword of Delaware, Ohio and many nieces, nephews and in-laws whom were dear to her. Sharon had several very close friends whom she loved very much and considered family. Carrie and Greg Flaig and their children Christian Lawson, Cameron Lawson and Candace Flaig adored Sharon and considered her their 2nd mom and grandma. Also Sharon's close friend Lori Hicks. Sharon was preceded in passing by her precious baby Carrie Rose DeMatteo, Parents, Brothers, James Edward Gannon, John C Sword, Billy Vaughn Sword all from Pikeville, Kentucky, Brother-In-Law, Robert Matheny from Westerville, Ohio. Sharon's brother Thomas Henderson Sword passed away in Delaware, Ohio a mere two days after Sharon on June 12, 2026.
