Sarah Mae Wilson

Sarah Mae (Martin) Wilson, age 92, of Columbus, Ohio, and formerly of Lewis Center, Ohio, passed away on September 3, 2021. Sarah was born April 18, 1929, in Lima, Ohio, to the late George Martin and Hazel Evelyn (Graham) Kuhn. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Henry Roy Wilson; daughters E. Lucinda (Tom) Gandert, Dublin, Ohio, and Karen (the late Mike) Doig, East Helena, Montana, and son David (Monica) Wilson, Marysville, Ohio; along with grandchildren Linda Easley (Malcolm Galloway), Cole Doig (Kassi Underhill), Hannah Wilson (Cole Norden), Meredith (Nick) Cremeans, and Olivia (Evan) See, and two great grandchildren Thomas and Alysa Galloway. She is preceded in death by sisters Mary Evelyn Cramer and Helen Jean Boroff. Sarah attended Linden McKinley High school where she graduated in 1947, married her high school sweetheart, Roy, in 1949, and started a family in 1954. Sarah retired from the Olentangy school system where she was a middle school secretary for fifteen years, which gave Sarah a second family — children and teachers alike — to mother and love. She was a dedicated member of Lewis Center Methodist Church for over 50 years. In retirement, Sarah and Roy loved to travel and realized their dream trip to Australia on their 50th wedding anniversary. Christian faith was the corner stone of her life, and she gave tirelessly not only to Lewis Center Methodist Church, but to People in Need, Delaware, Ohio. As a family, we are forever grateful for all the nursing staff and aides in the Health Care Center at Worthington Christian Village and for Ohio Health Hospice for their loving, compassionate care of Sarah. Thank you! A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Lewis Center United Methodist Church, 1081 Lewis Center Road, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035. Private graveside services were held for the family in Riverside Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Sarah’s name be directed to either People in Need, Delaware, Ohio; Ohio Health Hospice at www.OhioHealth.com/Foundation; or the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. .
