Samuel D. Andrietti

Samuel D. Andrietti, age 90, of Delaware, Ohio, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Willowbrook at Delaware Crossing. A veteran of the United States Army during WWII, Sam served as a Military Policeman. He was a long-time resident of Delaware County and was a Police Officer with The Ohio State University Police Department for 30 years before his retirement. Sam was a Deputy Sheriff for Delaware County for over 42 years and a Deputy Sheriff for Franklin County for over 20 years. He was also a Police Motorcycle Escort deputy for many years and escorted funeral processions for thousands of funerals throughout Central Ohio during his long career. Sam was a member of Capital City Lodge #9, Fraternal Order of Police, the Guild Athletic Club, the Piave Club of Columbus and the Flytown Club. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Opal Andrietti, his brother and sister-in-law Alex and Kathryn Andrietti, his brother Louis Andrietti and his sister and brother-in-law Kathryn and Charles Sabo. Sam is survived by his sisters-in-law Ruth Andrietti of Powell, Jane Benson and Helen Hoppe both of Kenton, Ohio; his nieces and nephews: Tony (Ruth Ann) Andrietti, Renee (Rob) Galli, Ricardo Andrietti, Louis Andrietti, Cheryl (Brad) Case, Charles (Rita) Sabo, Marie Elena Ellis, Ruthella (Gene) Ford, Cliff (Shirley) Collins, Bobby (Nancy) Benson, Steve Benson and Doug Collins; and his many great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8p.m. TUESDAY at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, OH 43065 (614)-792-1471. (The funeral home is located on W.
