Sally J. Cook

Sally Jean Clary Cook, 77, of Columbus, GA, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and servant of the Lord, passed away December 25, 2015 at The Mitchell House in Powell, OH after courageously fighting Parkinson’s. She will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband of 53 years, Donald H. Cook. Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington County, VA at a later date. She was born in 1938 to Inez and Stanley Clary in Huntington, WV. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1956 and married her high school sweetheart Donald H. Cook in 1958. Together they traveled the world during his 30 year Army career. She proudly served the United States Government for over 20 years providing support to the men and women of the U.S. military at the Office of Personnel Management. They raised their family with love across the globe, including places such as Fort Sill, OK, Fort Meade, MD, Fort Riley, KS and Fort Benning, GA, Okinawa, Japan, Stuttgart, Germany and Munich, Germany. Together they retired in Columbus, GA where they were members of Living Grace United Methodist Church and the Workers Sunday School Class. She enjoyed volunteering with the church. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Don, her brother Jim and other family members. She is survived by her daughter Denise Cook Lahrman, son-in-law David Lahrman and her grandchildren Elisabeth, Rebecca and Jonathan Lahrman of Powell, OH; and her son LTC (Ret) David Cook, her daughter-in-law Jill Cook, and her Grand Dogs Ella and Trumpet of Leavenworth, KS; and other family members and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at The Mitchell House who provided such loving, personal care and comfort in a family setting.
