Russell W. Queen

QUEEN Russell W. Queen, 65, of Powell, Ohio died Tuesday, January 31, 2017 after a brief illness. Russ was born in Akron, Ohio and is the son of William (Bill) Queen and the late Elizabeth (Lee) Queen. Russ had many friends and a dynamic personality. He was gregarious and always loved to talk to people. Some of his greatest memories were during his days as Director of Sales for CompuServe, Incorporated, where he met and married his beloved wife of 21 years, Molly Yoakum Queen. He was a devoted husband and father to their only child Jed, 18, a student at The Ohio State University. Russ was passionate about many things in his life and career, but his family, his bulldogs and his Ohio State Buckeyes topped the list. He truly loved his bulldogs and had several that he cherished throughout his life. Russ was an avid Buckeye supporter, including earning two degrees from OSU: a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration in Transportation and Logistics. Everyone who knew him knew how much he loved Buckeye football. Russ also enjoyed using his culinary skills to provide dinner most every night for his family, and he took great pride in his Italian heritage. His homemade lasagna and meatballs were a family favorite. However, nothing compared to the love he had for his wife Molly, his son Jed, his parents Bill and Lee and his sisters Barb and Amy. Russ will be missed dearly by his wife Molly and his son Jed; his father Bill Queen; sisters Barbara Gerber (Richard), Amelia Shannon (John); his mother-in-law Kathy Yoakum; brothers-in-law Paul Yoakum, Bill Yoakum (Arline), Lee Yoakum (Julie), Grant Yoakum (Kathleen), many nieces, nephews and loving friends and of course his beloved pets Bubba, Ella and Gibson. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m., at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, (http://www.rutherfordfuneralhomes.com/) 450 W.
