Ronald Joseph Fazekas

Ronald Joseph Fazekas, born May 12, 1949 in Cleveland, OH passed away on September 16, 2023 at his home in Columbus, OH. He joins his parents Josephine Gagliardo and Joseph Fazekas, and sister Mary Lee Fazekas in death. He is survived by his wife of 48+ years Cathy (Penrod) Fazekas, his daughters and sons-in-law Suzanne (Eric) Ardo, Nichole Fazekas & Robert Eberle, and Lauren (David) Raczkowski, grandchildren Mason, Oliver & Harrison Ardo and baby girl Raczkowski due in December, and siblings Beatrice Cameron, Jim Penrod & Judy (Fazekas) Goode. Ron served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973 and was an active member of The American Legion for 50 years, including serving as Commander and Finance officer for more than a decade. Before retiring on November 13, 2011, Ron worked for Sorbus, Bell Atlantic, National City Bank and PNC Bank. On October 7, 2023, the family will be hosting a celebration of life for Ron and welcome all to join them at The American Legion, Post 91 in Berea, OH. The celebration will begin at 1 PM and will be followed by a light meal and at least one fireball (or drink of your choice) toast to Ron. The Legion Hall is located at 91 American Legion Pkwy, Berea, OH 44017. While you do not need to RSVP, doing so would help the family to ensure there is plenty of food and drink for all. They joined the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer on six different trips and helped raise millions to go to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Every dollar raised and donated goes directly into cancer research. He supported and defended the country he loved up until the day he passed. This past April he was able to join dozens of his fellow veterans on Honor Flight 120 from Columbus to Washington D.C. The welcome home he received after the trip was one of the most powerful, emotional, and meaningful moments he ever had as a Serviceman and Veteran.
