Richard H. Ruth

Richard H (Dick) Ruth On August 15, 2022 was carried from his daughter's home in Columbus, Ohio into his eternal rest by his Savior Jesus Christ. Dick was born in Parkersburg WV in 1927 to the late Gertrude Gentert and Albert Ruth. As a longtime "Notable Resident" of Munson Township in Geauga County Ohio, Dick lived out his Christian faith with a quiet depth of character and integrity. He led by example, generously giving of himself to his wife, family, church and community. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Al and John. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeannine Robichaud Ruth; daughters Cheryl (Don) Hayes and Charlene (Ed) Kistner; grandchildren, Brian Hayes, David (Katie) Hayes, Kevin Hayes, Carolyn Hayes (Austin Riggs), Laura Ruth Ward (Paul Calderon), James Ward (Kellie Carpenter), Matt (Rachael) Ward; and great grandchildren, Aaron Hayes; Mackenzie, Madeline, Noah, Macie, and Mia Hayes; Alex Calderon; Lucy Ward; Madelyn Ward. He served in the US Army at the end of World War II, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and again served in the US Army during the Korean War. After this, he met and married Jeannine and began his 34-year career at General Electric. They raised their family in Macedonia and South Euclid Ohio and moved to Munson Township as empty nesters in 1977. Devoted to his wife Jeannine, he cared for her tenderly in even the smallest of ways. He loved and cared for his two daughters with profound thoughtfulness. Through his diligent hard work and frugal stewardship, he was able to provide generously for his family, giving them not only material possessions, but also the stability and strength of his family values. He thoroughly enjoyed being a grandfather and made many great memories with the grandchildren, planning reunions and special activities. Dick was a man committed to being of service to others and was active in his church, serving as usher and treasurer for many years. During retirement he and Jeannine attended mass daily and he assisted her in visiting the homebound. He was also committed to his community, serving as council member for Macedonia Ohio and as a key member of the zoning commission for Munson Township Ohio. Dick was a wonderful friend and neighbor and enjoyed many social athletic activities throughout his life, but especially in the retirement years, including golf, bowling, bicycling, cross country skiing as well as working in his beautiful yard. Our family is very thankful to his neighbors Rosemary Nazarini and Richard Schienke who helped Dick and Jeannine remain in their home as long as possible and thus became like family to us.
