Raymond E. Kurpe

Raymond E. Kurpe, age 59, of Westerville, met his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at home. Born in Sharon, PA to the late Freda and Steve Kurpe, he was a graduate of Brookfield (OH) High School, Class of 1970. Ray attended, and proudly played football for Michigan State University. He worked in the footwear industry for over 30 years and was a member of the Jerusalem Lodge #19, F&AM, Hartford, Ohio and was a 32nd Degree Mason-Valley of Youngstown. Ray was a life-time member of the Two-Ten Footwear Foundation and was a member of the MSU Football Players Association. Along with his wife Georgene, he was a member of Central College Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his two infant sisters and his first grandchild Seraphina Nicole Tosoian. He is survived by his wife of 39 years and his life-long best friend, Georgene; his daughters Nicole (Nick) Tosoian and Rachel Kurpe; his grandson Zachariah Tosoian and granddogs Zoe Rae and Georgie, all of the Columbus area; his brother Steve (Jackie) Kurpe, of Loganville, GA , and many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Edward (Donna) Webster, of Hermitage, PA; sister-in-law Robin (Kevin) Powell, of Hubbard, OH and their families; and many friends. Family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8pm. TUESDAY at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, OH 43065 (614)-792-1471 where funeral services will be held 11:00am. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4th, 2012 with Pastor Larry Brown and Pastor Sandy Huber, officiating. (The funeral home is located on W. Olentangy St./Powell Rd./SR 750 ¼ mile east of Sawmill Parkway.) Burial will follow the service at Blendon Central Cemetery, Westerville, OH. Because of severe medical allergies, the family respectfully requests the omission of flowers.
