Paul Weaver Jr.

Paul Luther Weaver, Jr. a life-long resident of the Columbus area, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2016 at the age of 95. Paul is survived by a loving and caring family, including his adoring wife of 71 years, Helen Grace; and his three children, Paul Weaver, III (Bonnie), of Powell, Cathy Flavin (Barry) of Ellenton, FL, and Nancy Sheumaker (Orin) of Columbus. He is also survived by four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sr. and Ferne (Coates) Weaver and his brothers, Robert and Charles. Paul was born in Clintonville, Ohio on October 1, 1920. He graduated from North High School (1938) and Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio in the spring of 1942 with a BA in Business Administration. It was there that Paul met and fell in love with his future wife, Helen Grace Williams. While attending Wittenberg, Paul was an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, and played both basketball and baseball for the school. Following graduation, Paul entered the Army Air Corps to serve his country in World War II. After the war, Paul and his wife settled in Columbus where they raised their three children, forming many life-long relationships. Professionally, Paul held several sales positions primarily in fundraising and in the modular home industry. He was a life-long member of Ascension Lutheran Church, serving on church councils, chairing committees and volunteering his time and talents throughout the years. Paul was passionate about his love and support for Wittenberg University. He was a member of the “W” Club, Alumni Association, and would routinely travel from Columbus to Springfield, Ohio to attend football and basketball games. He was honored by the school for his commitment to the university through fundraising, alumni support, and recruitment. Paul’s family would like to thank the wonderful care he received from his health care professionals at Mayfair Village of Columbus. Paul’s spirit, love of family, and talents will be celebrated at a funeral service scheduled for 10 AM, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1479 Morse Road, Columbus, OH 43229. Friends may call 6-8 PM, Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, OH 43085.
