Patrick "Pat" French

Patrick (Pat) French of Delaware, OH passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 1, 2023 after a 29 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He leaves behind the loves of his life, his wife of 39 years and best friend Kay and his 2 wonderful sons: Adam (Columbus, OH) and Brian (Upland, California) who were the pride of his life. He was born on November 27, 1959 in Columbus, OH to Kenneth and Dorothy French who have preceded him in death. He is survived by brothers Joe (Patricia) of Miamisburg, OH, Howard (Judy) of Hilliard, OH, and sisters Donna (Steve) Ramey of New Albany, OH and Kelly (Richard) George of Lewis Center, OH; sisters-in-law Trudy (Alan) Anders, of Fletcher, NC, Lisa Stillings of Dublin, OH, brother-in-law Ron (Debbie) Stillings of Beavercreek, OH as well as his Aunt Eleanor Kelley and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. Pat graduated from Franklin Heights High School in 1977 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1988. He worked many years in manufacturing including as a tool grinder apprentice/tool grinder at Timken, as a tooling engineer at Rockwell International, and numerous engineering and management roles at Honda Manufacturing. He retired from Honda in 2015 after 27 years of dedicated service. Pat always had a great appreciation of nature and loved outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, golf, and fishing with his family and friends. Life-long family traditions such as the annual celebration of St. Patrick's Day and the monthly card games were important to him as well as hosting family holiday dinners. He and Kay enjoyed traveling, especially to National Parks. He was a dedicated and loving husband and father and he treasured the time he spent with Kay, Adam and Brian most of all. He was a kind and good person and was always willing to help family and friends however he could. He was thankful for the many blessings in his life. Visitation will be held at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, in Powell, OH, on Sunday, Jan 8, from 2 PM to 4:30 PM with a Prayer service at 4:30 PM. Masks are strongly encouraged. Mass will be celebrated at Joan of Arc Catholic Church, on Monday Jan 9, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to People In Need, of Delaware County (www.delawarepeopleinneed.org/make-a-donation) in Pat’s memory. .
